Need another reason to apply Check out these 8 reasons to join Stryker’s engineering team: A Staff Engineer position in the R&D department with primary responsibilities to design and development of embedded firmware for medical products used in surgeries such as minimally invasive visualization products, including digital image & video capturing devices, light sources, and displays. This individual works with R&D and cross-functional teams to drive a product from conception through production and commercial launch, and support postlaunch sustaining activities. The engineer works closely with peers in software engineering, software quality assurance and project and product management to develop software that meets customer and system requirements. Following defined design practices and the use of sound software engineering principles, the engineer ensures that the software products are safe, robust and user friendly. Key Roles & responsibilities Responsible for developing and debugging embedded application using C/C++ programming language. Updating software components and subsystems in a released product Responsible for debugging the code with HW engineers Responsible for testing the code developed (includes unit test, integration test, issue resolution, verification, and validation ). This includes writing test cases and development of test scripts. Identify root causes of issues, determines potential solutions, and evaluates them against requirements. Participate in software planning and estimating activities. Responsible for delivering his work in defined timelines while achieving product quality goals Documentation of work according to organization quality standards. Follows the company’s standards for code development and quality process and complies with quality management system procedures. Ensures the integrity and security of patient health information, company intellectual property, and confidential data Desired Profile The successful applicant should have an excellent embedded software engineering background, good attention to detail, be self-motivated and effective in a team environment with multiple responsibilities. Education Bachelor of Technology in Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Software engineering or Masters in related discipline. Required Technical Skill Set Experience: 7-10 years Preferable years in similar role of product development or medical devices Programming Language – C/C++ Expert in C programing with RTOS At least 5 years of experience of embedded Linux programming (Timesys, Buildroot, Yocto) Very strong knowledge of Linux kernel and device-driver development Working knowledge of Embedded devices and communication protocols (Microcontrollers, JTAG/UART/I2C/ICSP) Good knowledge of TCP/IP, Network programming Hands on experience with filesystems, block devices, bootloaders (UBIFS, NAND flash, eMMC, u-boot) Sound knowledge algorithms, design patterns and data structures. Solid electronics debugging and troubleshooting skills. Good knowledge of verification methodologies Use of software developments tools, such as compilers, interpreters, programming editors, debuggers, source code control, defect management. Good exposure in Test Processes and Software Testing methodologies. Demonstrated documentation skills, strong analytical & problem-solving skills. Good to have Technical Skills Experience with design and development of software for products with camera Architectural and design knowledge of application/ firmware. Hands on with lab equipment’s like MSO, Multimeter, logic analyzer. Good knowledge of medical regulatory standards and quality processes. Additional Should be ready to travel to divisions as required. Effective interpersonal communications skills. Highly developed analysis and problem-solving skills Goal oriented and ability to work with cross functional teams.
