About this role

This role is a servant leader and coach for a team of Agile squads (Agile Release Train/Tribe) whom are working towards building new products, common capabilities and enablers. It will deliver key commercial technical delivery outcomes whilst creating a culture of continuous development that nurtures a World Class Technical Delivery Organisation. The purpose of this role is to facilitate quarterly alignment and planning readiness by driving cross-squad synthesis of the Vision, Roadmap, and Backlogs, and encourages collaboration across the squads to help ensure strategy and execution alignment. Managing incremental delivery of a product and capability demand Roadmap. Delivery accountability spans from managing pre-Program Increment Planning readiness, through to post-Program Increment retrospectives and improvement planning. Drives lean-agile mindsets and practices, fostering collaboration and enhanced employee experience.

You’ll have the following responsibilities

  • Coordination across squads to deliver large scale technology development through technical releases to support quarterly Business Goals
  • Summarises tribe objectves and publishes them for visibility and transparency.
  • Support Tribe Lead and Squad leadership in the shaping and prioritisation of the backlog in readiness for quarterly delivery Program increments
  • Plan and facilitate quarterly Program Increment Planning events
  • Facilitate periodic synchronisation meetings including Scrum of scrums and Product Owner (PO) sync; system and solution demos
  • Manages demand and optimise flow of value through the squads using kanbans; assessing and driving improvements to DevOps and release on Demand in the CI/CD pipeline
  • Coach squads on Agile delivery best practices; leading regular retrospective and continuous improvement activities to create high performing squads focused on customer centricity and value
  • Manage inter squad dependencies and drive issue resolution including impediment escalations where appropriate; set and drive achievement against key performance metrics
  • Senior stakeholder management including business value orientated progress reporting on cadence; major release and change management against commitments
  • Support agile maturity assessment of squads and help them improve
  • Work with Technology accelerator LPS to input to cross functional Tribe alignment.

You’ll have the following skills & experience

Provide detailed information on any qualifications, technical expertise or security clearance that you will need for the job. (See example statements below).

  • Be Agile: Solid understanding of lean Agile delivery practices with awareness of major frameworks (i.e. SAFe, LeSS, Spotify) with ability to lead collaborative agile ways of working and effectively manage changing priorities
  • Problem Solving: Must be able lead and take ownership of proactively solving technical delivery problems across squads that are multiplatform wide, impacting multiple services or cross Tribes/Business areas
  • Transformation: Be able to manage long term changes and adapting the Tribe/Release Train in line with business needs of frequent customer centric, high quality and low cost product delivery
  • Industry standard qualifications in Agile Leadership (i.e. Leading SAFe, SPC) and Scrum Mastering (i.e. CSM), Lean Six-Sigma

MANDATORY EXPERIENCE:

  • People Leader: Strong experience in leading team of 5+ people (either direct or matrix)
  • Stakeholder Communication: Experience in communicating to senior leadership team with view to collaborative decision making
  • Technical Delivery: Proven successful delivery track record on complex, high-profile technology enablers and/or programmes that cross multiple domains/teams
  • Change Agent: Participation in Agile transformation leadership driving incremental improvements in agile maturity
  • Team Coach: Adept at building high performance teams

DESIRABLE:

 Technical Delivery: Agile Practitioner: large scale agile delivery leadership, led Program Increment (big room) planning events

 Demonstrable experience of utilising Lean Six-Sigma methods to drive contiuouse improvements

 Experience of applying agile Roadmap prioritisation processes at program and portfolio level
