Role: Medical Summarizer- Senior Associate

Wipro Level: Band B2

Location: Pune/Bangalore

Job Description: To review medical records and provide precise summaries covering all relevant medical facts. Summaries will be used by Underwriters to make a decisions regarding life insurance coverage and reinstatements of lapsed policies. Provide guidance to and mentor Junior Associates as necessary to ensure medical summaries provided by the Wipro team are accurate, complete, and performed in accordance with established processes.

The candidate must have the following skill sets:

• Five plus years of experience in medical summarization and/or health claims adjudication.
• Homeopathic or medical degree (MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, Bachelor Physiotherapy) with knowledge of physiology, pharmacology, medical diagnosis, treatment protocols, and medical terminologies.
• Ability to provide opinion/recommendations on necessity of treatment considering the severity of injuries/disorders mostly related to musculoskeletal, neuromuscular and neuropsychology.
• Ability to use judgment in evaluating risk including health risks for purposes of communicating history.
• Ability to follow guidelines and adhere to high standards.
• Ability to scrutinize medical records and related documents and be proactive in identifying and resolving errors.
• Concise written communication skills with fluency in English communications.
• Efficient in operating a computer and modern tools/technologies essential to work in a virtual environment or work from home scenario. Ability to type with a speed of at least 25 words a minute with 90%+ accuracy.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Suite and the ability to learn generic applications used in a medical summarizer environment.
• Lead and maintain strong in-house medical summary capabilities.

Preferred skills

• Strong medical acumen and US life/disability/health insurance background.
• Experience in life underwriting, worker’s compensation, and disability claims processing as well as auto-casualty claims handling/investigations.
• Ability to take the Initiative to enhance processes by suggesting changes.
• Ability to identify employee training needs.
• Ability to supervise and coach junior assoicates to ensure timely and quality service.

• Flexible to work with shift timings – US timing if required.
• Flexibility to occasionally extend work hours to meet business needs.
• Commitment to a full schedule with few absences.
