Technology Infrastructure Services (TIS): is responsible for managing all infrastructure components globally, supporting business delivery projects and delivering TIS projects.

The function is divided into six core disciplines:

Service Management – Major Incident Management, Problem and Change Management functions and 24/7 Bridge Operations.
Infrastructure Architecture, Strategy & Design – define and drive overall Technology Architecture and Infrastructure strategy, alongside scope, design and engineering of Infrastructure solutions.
Delivery Support – supporting the business by managing the delivery of infrastructure elements of change projects, along with the management of the Technology Infrastructure portfolios.
Network, Voice and Market Data – design, engineering, implementation and operational support of infrastructure related to global network technologies, UK Data Centres and market data services.

Core Infrastructure, Platforms and Collaboration Services – design, engineering, implementation and operational support for infrastructure related to Platform (Wintel, Linux and UNIX), Storage, Backup, IAAS, PaaS, Digital, Web & Middleware and Collaboration.

Data Services – design, engineering, implementation and operational support of all database technologies, data services including replication, analytics, virtualisation and grid, Big Data and ICTIS.

The Role, purpose & responsibilities

The role is responsible for driving our technology automation strategy within Technology Infrastructure Services globally with specific focus on driving automation and great engineering of our products and services that we offer to the business. Specific areas of focus for this role are as follows:

  • Driving the holistic approach across automation of our infrastructure delivery, management & monitoring
  • Building & implementing an automation strategy and put in place delivery of this strategy working with the product & enablement teams
  • Ensuring we drive best practices around engineering & automation of our product set to ensure that:
  • They are automated in delivery & management
  • We have holistic, well-engineered technology services that are offered not a set of components (breaking silos)
  • Our products are
  • Ensuring that we define key outcomes aligned to the IAM and PAM programme of work
  • Joining the “golden threads” of technology together to ensure we build great services
  • Architecting, designing & building the “brilliant at the basics” approach into our products to ensure they are resilient, scalable, and fit for purpose
  • Ensure the product & enablement teams are joined up on strategic direction set by this role
  • Put governance around product development to ensure fit for purpose products are released to our customers, appropriate gates are passed and ensure our architectural principles are adhered too
  • Form strong working relationships with Business Solutions Architects and the Enterprise Architecture group to ensure alignment of strategies. This will involve articulating TIS strategy to the broader technology group and likewise facilitating communication of Business strategy and development goals

Your skills and experience

  • Deep technical skills in approaches to automation working in a cross-technology group “joining the dots”
  • Ability to build strategies and plans to deliver against a strategic agenda
  • Great understanding of technology infrastructure & technology as a whole – with automation & engineering in-mind
  • Able to complete high level and low-level infrastructure architectures and designs & work with project & programme managers to turn programme objectives into real deliverables with automation and engineering outcomes in mind.
  • Ability to think across breadth of technology and understand integration challenges and therefore able to design and integrate solutions across a complex tech landscape
  • Technology infrastructure knowledge and experience with broad range of foundational services – compute, network, storage, database, directory service, API GW, virtualization (VM and container/K8S ), Linux and Windows
  • Experience on cloud solutions (internal, public and hybrid) with major cloud platforms and service providers – AWS, Azure, GCP, etc., solution architect certification is a plus
  • A passion for requirements led design with a drive to automate and “keep solutions simple”
  • Knowledge of infrastructure monitoring/logging, performance and capacity management, automation and the application delivery toolchain
  • Working knowledge and experience of security solutions, IT compliance and risk management (security, privacy, SOX, HIPPA, etc.) and Security Information & Event Management
  • Working knowledge and experience with agile way of working, DevSecOps operation practice and ITIL service management model
  • Ability to work as part of a global team, to take the initiative, balance workload and prioritise accordingly
  • Influencing skills and ability to bring together diverse stakeholders and attain buy in and traction to the implementation of infrastructure solutions for the benefit of the Fidelity (FIL) business and ultimately the Customer
  • Great communication skills to all levels of seniority across the organisation
  • Ability to work within a team but also to pull together ideas and views to start ideation / development of approaches
