Software engineering is the application of engineering to the design, development, implementation, testing and maintenance of software in a systematic method. The roles in this function will cover all primary development activity across all technology functions that ensure we deliver code with high quality for our applications, products and services and to understand customer needs and to develop product roadmaps.

These roles include, but are not limited to analysis, design, coding, engineering, testing, debugging, standards, methods, tools analysis, documentation, research and development, maintenance, new development, operations and delivery. With every role in the company, each position has a requirement for building quality into every output. This also includes evaluating new tools, new techniques, strategies; Automation of common tasks; build of common utilities to drive organizational efficiency with a passion around technology and solutions and influence of thought and leadership on future capabilities and opportunities to apply technology in new and innovative ways.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership to and is accountable for the performance of managers and/or senior level professional staff
  • Impact of work is most often at the operational or local business unit or market level
  • Lead team in building data warehouse in Snowflake from scratch. Lead Architecture and Design discussions, provide solutions to problems
  • Take complete accountability of delivery and production support. Strong participation in requirement analysis, solutioning, project planning, agile leadership practices including feature and story grooming, defining
  • Architect the solution for new project and assist team members in adoption of latest technologies
  • Snowflake Architect, Data Warehousing Architect – Warehouse design, schema design, Snowflake admin responsibilities, data security and data recovery strategies and implementation
  • Work closely with various business stockholders – Drive requirement discussions, provide leadership and direction to business requirements, features, dependencies, solution and project delivery
  • Using expertise on Data Warehousing Architecture, Design, Data Modeling, Performance Tuning to expedite building Data Warehouse in Snowflake, implement CICD and DevOps practices
  • Review project designs, development components, remove roadblocks in project
  • Team Building and People Management – High engagement with leadership and team. Lead by examples on building unbiased culture, building highly motivated teams. Demonstrate Optum Culture Values
  • Continues learning, implementation and improvement of data transformation supports needed for reporting by effective and efficient use of Data Warehousing technologies including but not limited to Snowflake, Azure Data Engineering, Microservices result is faster processing time along saving the addition process power which could help in expanding the scope of Data Warehousing while ingesting high volume data
  • Participate in hiring and training development programs
  • Recommend Tech Stack for specific use-case/guiding principles
  • Value-based PoCs/POVs/MVPs. Cloud Migration plan and solutions
  • Lead by example on mentoring, promoting learning culture and growth mindset
  • Improvement/enhancements in the BI and bringing new capable features
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of overall experience in data warehousing – worked in different areas of data warehousing – Data Engineering, Solution Architect, Data Modeling and Architect, Performance Tuning, Data Warehouse and Data Mart Developments
  • 8+ years of experience in managing projects for diversified data management systems. Managed client expectations, onshore – offshore teams. Has good experience in different engineering job responsibilities
  • 2+ years of experience in managing large data warehouses using Cloud and Data Warehouse technologies which supported low latency – Snowflake, Azure Data Solutions
  • 2+ years of experience in developing IT strategy, solutions and Cost Benefit Analysis for Cloud Adoption
  • Experience in Data Architect and Data Modeling
  • Experienced in high performance, hybrid cloud architecture i.e. Snowflake, Azure/GCP
  • Strong experience on Azure Cloud stack such as Synapse, Data Factory, Databricks and ADLSG2
  • Worked on large BI/DWH/Analytics projects
  • Exposure to any programing languages, preferred on Python and Scala
