You will be responsible for ensuring Microsoft’s industry clouds are successful. You should have worked in large scale programs that demand leading a team to build and architect solutions across business divisions, aligning priorities with executive leadership, developing engineering execution roadmap across multiple engineering units, and delivering time critical products to market. We are the Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability team and are eager to provide an insightful and delightful sustainability experience. Our vision is to provide solutions that empower organizations to make sustainable decisions through visibility into carbon emissions, circularity, water and waste that facilitates the reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This work will include partnering to develop new features and tools, improve existing services, and ensure sustainability is part of engineering work across the company. This new role will be an integral part of a new team dedicated to internal and external stakeholder engagements on sustainability. The team consists of highly motivated, innovative, customer-focused engineers, program managers, and designer. We’re optimizing our engineering for the cloud with a faster release cadence to deliver innovation at an exciting pace. Our team works in an agile start-up like environment where we expect each team member to think out of the box to contribute and collaborate towards the mission of the team in a feature-crew setting. Build and lead an excellent team of engineering managers and software engineers Coach and grow managers and team members Contribute to architecture of applications for sustainability solutions. Drive consistency, reliability, security, and performance across large environments with a customer and service-centric approach Provide technical & thought leadership Communicate complex concepts/incidents to broad audiences including executive communication Partner closely with program managers to innovate and evolve services based on deep understanding of business and customer needs You will leverage technologies and help architect solutions across Azure, Power Platform, Microsoft 365 and Dynamics 365. Plenty of opportunities to work with Customers and Partners directly. required qualifications 10+ years of experience with project and people management in commercial software development. breadth and depth technical knowledge in software engineering. experience in handling large software engineering projects, modularizing them into deliverables for the team, shepherding them to quality delivery, and working closely with engineering partners across the globe. bs in computer science or higher, equivalent industry experience. demonstrated problem solving and debugging skills. experience in building, shipping, and operating reliable system software preferably with experience in large scale high availability distributed systems. ability to lead a team of managers that work with engineers that write complex system level programming and debugging. preferred qualifications excited to work on the intersection of distributed systems, scale/big data, and ai sound knowledge of distributed systems, micro-services architectures knowledge of stream data processing pipelines, as well as spark and python is helpful but not required strong design, coding, debugging, and problem-solving skills outstanding communication skills and collaboration capabilities independent, with internal drive and self-motivated ability to take initiative, lead in ambiguous situations, and produce results ability to collaborate effectively with a talented, strong team
