KEY FOCUS AREAS

Include but are not limited to:

  • Communicate test results and testing processes to clients of diverse backgrounds, including physicians, pharma representatives, and patients
  • Management/Oversight of testing projects and samples on a client by client basis
  • Collect and review medical information required for variant and results interpretation
  • Assist in variant classification by researching variants and genes
  • Draft clinical test reports
  • Participate in the research and development of new tests and updates to existing tests
  • Support client services department and respond to client requests as needed
  • Telephone genetic counseling of patients as needed
  • Serve as subject matter expert as needed
  • Assist in preparation of manuscripts
  • Participate in the medical genetics, genetic counseling, and/or patient advocacy communities
  • Additional tasks as required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in Genetics and Genetic Counseling · Board eligible/Board certified by the Board of Genetic Counseling India (BGC-I) or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), attention to detail, problem-solving ability
  • Ability to adapt communication to audiences of all skill levels and backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to critically read and interpret scientific literature
  • Ability to synthesize and present complex information in brief but clear summary
  • Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills
  • Professional phone and email etiquette
  • Self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies
  • Prior experience in a diagnostic laboratory, including clinical report writing and familiarity with human mutation databases, genome browsers, and HGVS nomenclature, is preferred but not required.
