Apple has confirmed the iPhone 15 launch date and the event is set to take place on September 12 at 10:30PM in India, which means we are almost 9 days away from the announcement. Ahead of the launch, the leaks and rumours have given a good idea of what to expect from 2023’s iPhones. Let’s take a look at leaked specs, design and price of the upcoming iPhone 15 models.
iPhone 15 launching in 9 days: Expected price
The iPhone 15 is rumored to start at $799 in the USA, mirroring the previous model’s price. So, considering Apple pegs a dollar at Rs 100, and keeping last year’s prices of the iPhone 14 series in mind, one can expect the iPhone 15 to start at the usual Rs 79,900. Apple has maintained the standard model’s price since the iPhone 13, but there’s a possibility of a slight price increase. However, no official confirmation exists, so users should approach these details cautiously.
Similarly, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models won’t be available at the old prices, according to leaks. The iPhone 15 Pro is tipped to cost $1,099, which is up from last year’s model price of $999. So, Apple may decide to launch the Pro model at Rs 1,39,900 in India because the company pegs each dollar at Rs 100.
The leaks also claim that the iPhone 15 Pro Max could be introduced at $1,299, up from last year’s model price of $1,099. In India, Apple could announce the new Pro Max model at Rs 1,59,900. But, again, these prices are not official yet and so, users should wait for a few more days to know about the exact prices.
iPhone 15: Expected design
All iPhone 15 models are said to come with Apple’s innovative Dynamic Island notch and the company is widely rumoured to transition to a USB Type-C port instead of the Lightning port.
It is rumored that the iPhone 15 Pro models will have very slim bezels in contrast to their iPhone 14 Pro counterparts. Remarkably, the displays are anticipated to maintain their flat form while boasting sleeker, curved edges. Additionally, Apple is also reportedly planning significant changes for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, shifting from stainless steel to titanium side frames.
iPhone 15, Plus Pro, Pro Max: Leaked upgrades and specs
The iPhone 15 series is anticipated to maintain a design akin to its predecessors, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. All the devices are expected to retain the old displays. That said, we may get to see a 6.1-inch screen on the standard and Pro models. The 6.7-inch OLED display could be seen on the Plus and Pro Max models.
You can expect the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max to use the new A17 chipset, which is said to be the first A-series Apple chip on a 3-nanometer process. The other two models are expected to get last year’s A16 chip under the hood.
The standard iPhone 15 models are said to feature 48-megapixel rear cameras, like the iPhone 14 Pro models. The Pro Max variant may include a periscope lens for optical zoom up to 5-6x, while the iPhone 15 Pro might miss out on this. The iPhone 15 Pro may maintain the 3x optical zoom seen in the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Additionally, the units could have an upgraded rear-camera LiDAR Scanner from Sony for enhanced depth-sensing capabilities.
Apple is also reportedly exploring a modification to the mute switch. This new feature, found in the latest iOS beta version, will enable users to control various functions, including silent mode, flashlight, Focus mode, and access to the Translate app and magnifier within the iPhone’s camera app.
If we go by leaks, the upcoming iPhone 15 series will have bigger batteries. The standard version could pack a 3,877mAh battery, up from 3,279mAh in iPhone 14. The iPhone 15 Pro is rumored to have a 3,650mAh battery, which is larger than the existing model’s 3,200mAh unit. The iPhone 15 Pro Max could feature a 4,852mAh battery, which is bigger than the 4,323mAh seen in iPhone 14 Pro Max. Lastly, either Pro or standard models could get support for up to 35W fast charging tech. While this improvement will offer a big relief to users, it is not yet confirmed by Apple.
