About the Department:

– Invest India is the National Investment Promotion and Facilitation Agency under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. It hosts teams working with various government initiatives such as Make in India, Startup India, AGNii, and PMG.

– Startup India is a flagship initiative of the Government of India, intended to catalyze startup culture and build a strong and inclusive ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship in India. Since the launch of the initiative on 16th January 2016, Startup India has rolled out several programs with the objective of supporting entrepreneurs and transforming India into a country of job creators instead of job seekers.

Key Responsibilities:

– The candidate shall be working with Startups & Government Departments with the objective of easing and improving the regulatory environment in the startup ecosystem.

– This role shall enable the candidate to identify and solve regulatory and policy issues via first-hand interaction with the ecosystem stakeholders.

– This role also provides the candidate with an opportunity to contribute to ease of doing business and provide strategic inputs to the Government of India.

The candidate is expected to:

– Maintain the highest standards of professionalism while working with senior level government officers

– Identify regulatory issues being faced by startup ecosystem stakeholders, build cases, present to DPIIT and regularly follow up and liaison on the progress achieved

– Provide continuous scrutiny of the Startup environment for identifying regulatory issues across sectors and pursue the same with various ministries

– Understand and analyze the Regulations and policies concerning the Startup ecosystem

– Establish, manage and build relationships with relevant government and private stakeholders

– Have the ability to present to different classes of stakeholders

– Plan and execute various stakeholder engagement activities like roundtables, roadshows & webinars

– Prepare research material, presentations and briefing notes related to regulatory issues

– Have deep analytical thinking and ability to formulate macro level strategies ; Address ad hoc requests on Startup India portal and from various departments

Qualifications:

The candidate should be/have:

– Chartered Accountant/ Company Secretary or a Law Graduate from a premier law institute

– 2-4 years of full-time work experience at a leading Corporate/Consulting firm/ Law Firm.

– Experience in Government Advisory and Public Policy will be preferred

– Knowledge of various laws pertaining to the Startup Ecosystem

– Ability to work in teams and independently take responsibility of delivering key results

– Strong communication, research and analytical skills
