The Clinical Development business at GSK is completing a transformation which is simplifying processes and systems through technology. R&D Tech at GSK is at the forefront, working hand in hand with the business to deliver change, using industry leading Veeva Development Cloud platforms, Veeva Vault Clinical Operations, Clinical Data Management, Regulatory, Medical and Quality. Job Purpose This role is accountable for the continuous improvement and engineering of new capabilities in GSKs Veeva Development Cloud platform in alignment with Agile and DevOps principles. The Senior Engineer works closely with the Architecture Director, Product Owners, Agile Facilitators, Product Director and Quality Assurance teams to deliver regular releases of new functionality and integrations. The Engineer is a ‘T-Shaped’ role that will build depth and breadth across key engineer competencies e.g. Software Development, Testing, DevOps, Data Science/Analytics, Lifecycle Management, etc. In addition, the role will demonstrate or build core engineer knowledge/experience of industry technologies, practices and frameworks e.g. Veeva Vault Platform, Jira, Selenium, SAFe, JavaScript, Python, Apache Kafka, Equillium, Azure/Google Cloud Platform, etc. Hands-on in Technology Worked in most of the technologies required for integrating Veeva Vault solutions with a Data Fabric (kafka, any cloud, open source programming live, java, python , spark etc.) Worked on scaling application integrations from KB to Peta without compromising performance and data governance. Worked on automated testing of Veeva Vault configurations and integrations enabling high quality and problem free adoption of Veeva product releases. Technology Management Maps the business requirement to the technology team and Veeva product owners and service managers. Represents the technology challenges to the business and vendor (Veeva) and defines optimal process changes for effective operational excellence. Aligned to agile principles. Technology Awareness Has certification on cloud or other data fabric technologies and automated testing frameworks e.g. Selenium Potential to learn and adapt to new technologies. These responsibilities include the following: The continuous delivery of technology solutions from product roadmaps adopting agile and dev ops principles Ensures that technical delivery is fully compliant with GSK Security, Quality and Regulatory standards and maintains a strong collaborative relationship with Quality assurance groups supports business owners in internal and external audits Ensures use of relevant R&D Tech / central services and collaborating with service partners in identification and delivery of service improvements Proactively develops and delivers continuous improvement/simplification of Product portfolio to enhance user productivity, increase system reliability and reduce the total cost of ownership Drives experiments and innovation with a focus on supporting seamless flow of data and driving automation (using new tools and technologies, such as AI/ML/NLP) and Data Analytics Ensures the team keeps relevant technical documentation up to date in support of the lifecycle plan for audits/reviews. Provides leadership, technical direction and GSK expertise to product teams composed of GSK FTEs, strategic partners and software vendors (Indirect management of up to 20+ 3rd party resources) Contributes to release planning and roadmaps working closely with Product Owners, Product Director and Enterprise Architect Why you Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: Proficient with at least 5 years’ experience and can demonstrate knowledge and value with relevant experience in all the following competencies: Leveraging Data and Analytics to enable & transform business performance Development and technical architecture design using APIs, Java Development Agile, DevOps & Automation [of testing, build, deployment, CI/CD, etc.] Data science (e.g. AI/ML), data analytics & data quality/integrity Testing strategies & frameworks Role requires: Track record of engineering and delivery of flexible, scalable and supportable Veeva Vault implementations and integrations. Ability to lead and direct a team of GSK and 3rd party sourced resources from our strategic partners Demonstrated skill in delivering solutions that integrate commercial off-the-shelf products Knowledge of industry standards and technology platforms aligned to GSK and R&D roadmaps Excellent communication, negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills Customer focus and excellent problem-solving skills Computer Science or related bachelor’s degree Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Experience in agile development and DevOps & ITIL, relevant technology platforms [e.g. Kubernetes, Equillium, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, Power BI], cloud technologies & data structures (i.e. information management) and data models Experience working in Pharma R&D or similar relevant technical and scientific domains (Oncology, Clinical, etc) Trained on Audit review, Regulatory (GxP) standards & Privileged Access Management Experience with agile development methods, with security strategies and best practices, data integration mechanisms, architectural design tools, delivering and integrating COTS applications, areas of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), Business Process Management and Data Quality.
