Department Description

Department is part of the wider FIL Technology team and is primarily responsible for supporting the UK Business covering Personal Investing, Funds Network, Retail and Defined Contribution channels and the European distribution channels.The department is responsible for defining, delivering and supporting all IT hardware and software needs of the businesses that are supported. The technology teams are primarily located in Gurgaon, Noida, Oakhill and Kingswood. A key focus for the department is the delivery of the technology elements of the UK Business Transformation programme.

Purpose of the Role:

Developing and supporting applications for Fidelity Retail web applications and Digital Platform enabling better digital experience for end investors and Advisor for financial investment Framework for UK Business. Responsible for assigned tasks in operations support team across regions that keep investment management system live and running 24*7.Service management to ensure quality in Service delivery of Incident, Service Request, Knowledge, Problem and Change Management. Escalation management of issues raised by stakeholders and be part of an on-call roster as needed.Service transition management to ensure operational readiness of projects transitioning to operationsParticipating in Global Production Services (GPS) forums and working on key change programmes with Head of Global Production Support and other Senior leaders across departments.Working in ‘Elevate Group’ within overall Support Department with the vision to improve the overall efficiency of the Group by Automation, robust Data Reconciliation, eliminating redundant work, creating self-service for business, enabling/identifying areas of strengthening monitoring and predictive analysis. This involves collaboration with Business groups, Infrastructure Groups and Inter/Intra team collaborations of understanding requirements, detailed research to translate requirements into precise, high quality user stories/use cases or functional, non-functional/technical specifications and conducting POC and finally providing a robust solutions to teams/business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing BAU support operations and service for stack of Digital/Web Applications, Middle Tier Business Services and Database as Platform in UK Retail Business. (including business service requests, incidents, RCA’s, fixes and implementations, daily health checks, infrastructure release & upgrades, DR Tests)
  • Service management to ensure quality in Service delivery of Incident, Service Request, Knowledge, Problem and Change Management. Ensuring effective triaging and in Major Incidents coordination of resolving parties, effective communications to clients, stakeholders and Leadership teams and effective post incident review.
  • Working with key business stakeholders to review, refine and improve the engagement model ensuring that the service is meeting the needs of our business customers, owning Service Improvement Plans, driving operational excellence & enhance client experience to ensure high level of satisfaction.
  • Service transition management, SLA/OLA tracking to ensure operational readiness of projects transitioning to Production. Defining IT service continuity strategy and procedures including application security and backups
  • Ensure technology solutions are delivered using Agile Framework and satisfies the necessary criteria for promotion to the production environment. Also reviewing the upstream and downstream impacts.
  • Managing Vendor supplier responsible for development and deployment of key components including infrastructure and base product specifications, producing SOW agreements with offshore vendors.
  • Deliver a highly motivated and performing team by attracting the best talent, managing PDP, career development and ensuring better coordination across global teams.
  • Managing team (including Vendor resources) of Team Leads, Technical Leads, L1, L2, L3 Support Analysts, Developers, Business Analysts, testers, Subject matter Experts
  • Overall governance on Incident, Problem and Change Management. Review all Change Requests for accuracy & Production Readiness. Working closely with Development teams for managing testing/defects and supporting migration. Also planning for infrastructure and software upgrades.
  • Service Now Champion in terms of Service Management to monitor and report the service performance and executive level updates for Senior Management & business stakeholders
  • Managed Cloud Services and Applications on AWS/Cloud Based environments

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • 7+ years building OO systems with Java with real in depth knowledge of both areas
  • 5+ years web services development experience including skills
  • Hands on experience of RDBMS and SQL
  • Good knowledge of UNIX, Ant, Cruise Control (or similar) and experience of continuous integration
  • Knowledge of XML and practical experience using it with Java
  • Well versed with the Data mining tools to drive the right trends existing in team.
  • Experience of best practices development methodologies. Especially Agile/DSDM/XP
  • Performance tuning experience
  • Expert in multitasking. Ability to manage deliverables under tremendous pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Experience of managing a team for all HR aspects.
  • Good understanding of Automation techniques
  • Ability to effectively manage tough conversations with stakeholders, peers, and team members.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills. Good analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills.
  • Strong organisational and influencing skills
  • Knowledge of Mutual Fund and Equity Brokerage Business
  • ITIL v3 Certified
  • Good interpersonal skills, confidence and ability to interact professionally with people at all levels.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Oracle/Java/SQL databases
  • Good Knowledge of Control M, WMB, PAAS
  • Strong scripting skills (SQL, PL/SQL, UNIX shell scripting)
  • Collaborate with project, architecture, and release teams, providing input on architectural design recommendations, driving standards, and plan and execute effective transition to production operations.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in handling ITIL processes such as Incident management, Problem management and Change Management
  • Good understanding of release and deployment management process.
  • A good team worker.
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines on a regular basis.
  • Good analytical, problem solving and documentation skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs (flexible) and learning new skills quickly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, together with the ability to communicate with management and other business and technical groups.
  • Customer focused – strong service ethic.
  • Ability to work on own initiative with minimal direction.
