Position Summary

This position will report to VP of R&D India. This individual will work closely with the VP of R&D on the innovation agenda for TCI to drive various initiatives across TCI. The individual must be a driven individual with a strong science or engineering educational background to grasp the latest technologies and must be able to translate this into meaningful actions for the organization. The individual must be able to operate in an abstract world with ambiguity to help the organization navigate through the intricacies of the technical and digital world. This individual must have demonstrated capabilities to publish articles, white papers, and good presentations. This individual will work across the leadership team across BDx to drive the technology scouting with the third-party vendor, identify opportunities to initiate innovation challenges across the start-up hubs, and execute innovation challenges. In addition, this individual will closely coordinate all the innovation activities Intellectual Property Council, Boot Camps, etc. The individual will join the BD TCI providing leadership and technical support to a large cross-functional teams. The individual will be responsible for leading and driving several initiatives across the centre including innovation, market research, literature survey, technical publications, white paper, bootcamp, and execute to deliver effective implementation. This individual will also be responsible for guiding and support to build Life science / wet lab environment. This role to demonstrate strong passion in science background for innovation and technology in Lifesciences domain through strategic collaborations and multiple stakeholder engagement, both – internally and externally.

Educational Background

• Master’s degree in Science/Engineering/Lifesciences disciplines (Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, etc.) is a must. Master’s / advanced degree in academic research is highly preferred but Doctorate/ PhD degree not required.
• Individual must be familiar with ML/AI technologies and must be able to synthesize the market in these areas.

Professional Experience

• 2-4 years’ experience in the academic research, in pharmaceutical or healthcare industries and/or research experience from premier universities is preferred as research student in the lab under professor guidance and on projects.

Job Responsibilities

• Execute end to end technology scouting with multiple stakeholders in R&D team by understanding their project requirements
• Liaison with external partners to run the technology scouting and establish partnerships with hospitals and health care organizations
• Create white papers, technical publication, case studies on key areas/ topics of significance from marketing, business, and medical affairs perspective
• Drive end to end/ conduct market research with approved channel partners
• Conduct and drive innovation challenge, shark tanks, bootcamps, etc. to address unmet needs thus facilitating intellectual output seamlessly
• Conduct, examine literature survey, prior art search, competitive benchmarking with research methodology on various science topics
• Help BD TCI team to streamline collaboration process and serve as a coordinator from BD TCI to facilitate collaboration discussions (in-person, telephonic and electronic) with counterparty
• Support business strategy decision making by developing and demonstrating thorough up-to-date knowledge of sciences and scientific information related technological advances in the related fields
• Work cross-functionally with channel partners, TCI leadership & associates, and cross functional teams to provide scientific expertise to influence business strategy & decision making
• Coordinate with stakeholders across BD business units (e.g., MDS, MMS and PS under BD Medical) and/ or segments (BD Medical, BD Interventional, BD Life Sciences) with different functions like innovation, marketing, medical affairs, business, etc. to gather information on unmet needs statements (key challenge areas) for deliberate innovative solutions, define problem statements (pain points to address) based on unmet needs
• Facilitate strategic collaborations with R&D institutes (research labs and/or central facility), healthcare domain start-ups and/or companies, hospitals, clinical research organizations for animal and/or human trials, prototype/ product testing facilities, subject matter experts, key opinion leaders (KOL), etc. in India and/or outside
• Actively build on personal skills, expertise, and competencies.
• Ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures, and practices.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures.

• Candidate shall have hands on exprience of writing technical papers, publications & shall have his own technical international, national publications and conferences
• Candidate having experience and exposure in review articles with national or international technical publication is an added advantage
• Demonstrated research track record in terms of scientific publications, conference proceedings with excellent writing, analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to distil complex scientific/ clinical/ market research information from multiple internal/ external stakeholders and disseminate it in the form best discernible to diverse background audience
• Exposure to the Lifesciences / wet lab is needed
