About the role – you will: The Systems Electrical Engineer is responsible for electrical systems design, development, qualification and support for systems storage array products and solutions. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Work directly with other technical disciplines such as mechanical, software, compliance, reliability, and manufacturing to resolve technical issues through the development of a product. Perform reviews of specs, schematics, layouts, test plans and results. Ensure proper simulation and analyses are performed. Review and provide input to PCB layout activities to ensure performance targets are met. Provide functional test of engineering prototypes Ensure product technical documentation meets high quality standards, is accurate and complete. Configure and run storage products. Assist with board bring up and troubleshooting of analog and digital circuits. Perform test procedures to validate electronic circuit operation to the functional specification and test plan. Work with design engineers to report and obtain data to work on closure of issues found. Help maintain documentation of rework per various BOM levels. Help tutor and assist other engineers as needed and to improve their skills and knowledge. About you: Ability to debug to the component level. Organized and detail oriented. Ability to change tasks to meet new priorities. Excellent written & oral communication skills. Your experience includes: Strong analog and digital background. Read and understand schematics. Familiarity with product safety and global compliance standards. Development of test plans. Execution of tests and documentation of the results in the form of reports that may be shared with customers. Hands on knowledge of various test equipment, O-scopes, Multi-meters, TDR, data loggers, Spectrum Analyzers and digital logic analyzers (preferred). Ability to debug to the component level. Organized and detail oriented. Ability to change tasks to meet new priorities. Excellent written & oral communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office applications. Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering and 8+ years experience, or Master’s Degree in and 5+ years experience, or PhD and 3+ years of experience or equivalent education and experience You might also have: Must understand and apply appropriate capacitive decoupling methods, RFI mitigation techniques including the use of ferrite beads, common mode chokes, shielding and high frequency grounding. Working knowledge of x86 CPU complexes, ARM processors, custom ASICs, DDRx memory designs, and high-speed bus operations from 1-32 GHz. Soldering and de-soldering small components, fine pitch, rework skills. Some mechanical assembly and electronics background. Colorado’s 2021 Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB 19-085) requires we inform you of the estimated base salary range for this position: $98,000 – $143,000. Actual salary range is based on fair market value of the role in the geography in which you live based on the requirements of the job and your skills. This posted salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, and Seagate reserves the right to adjust this range depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
