You will play an instrumental role in helping us expand access to our products by working on various innovative business models, helping us reduce the barriers and thus ensure smooth access of essential and innovative medicines for the underserved and marginalized populations across the world. As a Global Health (GH) senior leader, to fulfil the corporate directive of improving global health through building trust with society. Support the Global Medical Affairs Director with driving the medical affairs strategy with cross-functional teams and Global Drug Development (GDD), action plan and seamless execution of medical affairs activities in Integrated Access Programs & Markets (IAP&M) Regions and Direct Markets. Co-lead strategy and execution of Medical Affairs tactics in IAP&M & defined programmes*, and manage daily Medical Affairs activities and governance. Advance Unified Patient Journey (UPJ) assessments to support/ lead implementation of Health System Strengthening (HSS) initiatives for portfolios & programmes in key IAP&M geographies. Your responsibilities: Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Support GMAD with strong leadership in the design of Medical Affairs strategies for focus therapeutic areas in the IAP&M division in alignment with business priorities and objectives, and in collaboration with key internal and external partners. Prepares and drives the execution of the GH Medical Affairs strategic plans in collaboration with other functions and regional/ local/ global divisions (Pharma, Oncology, Sandoz). Leadership role in strengthening patient safety, HCP education, and healthcare sys-tems in low-to-middle-income-populations (LMIPs) in IAP&M GH markets. Clearly define and transform clinical outcomes, enhance access to medicines for patients, and improve sustainable healthcare system strengthening impact through programmatic activities (e.g., AMR, ABP, Novartis Access and Healthy Family). Strategic and operational medical support to Access Portfolio design/ evolution & global/ regional and country implementation, Design, support, and implement HSS solutions as a bridge to a One Novartis portfolio approach and access to strategic Innovative Therapies (SITs) and solutions for patients in IAP&M geographies. Provides a source of key medical knowledge on the companys pipeline programmes disease areas and approved molecules to drive the One Novartis approach. Support depth of impact and expansion of current and future IAP&M solutions (Social & Access programmes coupled to HSS). Co-leads with the GMAD the launch of sophisticated Medical Affairs pre-launch/ launch strategy for IAP&M focus areas: Cardio Renal Metabolic (CRM), Anti-Infectives (AI), and Ophthalmology. Support Flagship Global Medical Affairs Directors (GMADs) on flagships disease area projects/ strategies in IAP&M markets. In collaboration with Global Health Medical Manager, GH Medical Governance Lead, & IAP&M ERC associates applies rigorous process governance in IAPM markets. Including alignment of local Medical Affairs compliance initiatives, policy interpretations, risk mitigation, trainings, and corrective actions related to medical affairs, GH. Ensure good GxP governance as per Global Health standards; operationalize new and updated processes and standards. Raises awareness of Novartis molecules, programs, and disease areas through publication of manuscripts, scientific presentations, projects and trainings as well as acting as company ambassador in external scientific programs and congresses. Applies Omni channels where possible, engaging with external stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations Identifies opportunities for joint value creation and engages with the key thought leaders and other partners in the healthcare systems advocating in the assigned therapeutic area. Internally shares relevant captured insights (advisory boards, events etc), to shape the disease area strategy Identifies, prioritizes, designs, implements, and publishes innovative and integrated Novartis local sponsored studies, to generate relevant scientific data that addresses local cross functional needs and data gaps. Identifies Real World Evidence (RWE) needs and utilizes implementation science methodologies, to close the gap ensuring patient clinical adoption and better outcomes. Supports Managed Access Programs (MAP) for IAP&M GHMs countries. Identify key gaps in the data, health systems and find means to conducting evidence-based research to fill the data gaps to enhance clinical potential of pipeline, in-market compounds, and IAP&M TA focus. Deputize for GMAD at the Franchise Leadership Team (FLT) & IAP&M LT/ Steer Co meetings, where required. Provides medical expertise to non-medical functions through the life Cycle of product(s) by: Working as a strategic partner in collaboration with, IAP&M teams, where necessary, to ensure effective patient outcomes and access. Co-creating, and ensuring that all Medical, non-promotional, and promotional activities and materials are compliant with Novartis and Pharmaceutical Industry procedures, and to National laws and regulations. Identifying the optimum positioning of the product within the TA Supporting the formation of non-medical advisory bodies as required Supporting and partnering on training activities with IAP&M teams and Medical Affairs colleagues Supporting Drug Regulatory Affairs (DRA) team on regulatory documents, filing and health authorities’ interactions. Minimum requirements :What you will bring to the role; MD, MBBS or PhD/ PharmD in Health Sciences (Business degree (e.g. MBA) advantageous Languages) with 7+ years of related experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare companies and 3-5 years of demonstrated leadership experience including management in a matrix environment, across functions, regions, and countries. English: fluent spoken & written Strong strategic agility and organizational skills to prioritize and work effectively in a dynamic environment and from a remote location. Experience with HSS project design and implementation. Strong medical and scientific bases and agility to transverse the diseases’ arena. Good planning, organisational skills, and intuition for business. Strong communication skills and customer orientation, and ability to work across varied global geographies and with diverse teams and cultures. Strong medical and scientific writing skills. Strong leadership, interpersonal communication, project management skills, strong personal integrity, collaboration abilities, and customer focus. Experience with scientific activities and events planning, design, and implementation (advisory boards, congress symposia, CPD programmes, disease awareness programs etc). Innovative thinking and digital medical education expertise Thorough knowledge of clinical medicine, disease management, and medical research practices, healthcare intuition for business, and ability to differentiate products. Consistent track record of leading and influencing in a complex, highly matrixed environment and collaboration with internal partners and stakeholders to achieve desired business outcomes.
