About the role

As a Software Engineering Chapter Lead, your role is two-fold where you combine your strong expertise in Software Engineering with people leadership. Through your passion for leadership you connect, engage and develop your chapter members so they deliver value aligned to Telstra’s strategic roadmap.

Through your initiative work, you act as a catalyst for the enterprise. You bring experience in the Software Engineering technical domain and work with multiple stakeholders to understand business needs, and help shape our Software Engineering strategy, solutions and capability to ensure we continuously deliver value to our customers.

What is the focus of the role?

ITAM is the foremost ITSM tool for Telstra IT, The ITAM Chapter lead role requires a capable servant leader to drive innovation and continuous improvement across all the ITIL capabilities in BMC Remedy along with regular coaching and uplifting the skills of the chapter

Key accountabilities

  • Modelling a culture of collaboration and continuous learning to support development of domain and interpersonal capability within the Chapter.
  • Coaching and developing chapter members within Software Engineering to enable them to deliver high quality and secure software solutions, providing support and feedback along the way.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships within teams that enable a high performing team culture aligned to living our values
  • Providing clarity on performance, behavioural goals and expectations to your chapter team to ensure that they can contribute to both mission and chapter activity
  • Actively maintaining a talent pipeline for the chapter to ensure that workforce strategy objectives are achieved.
  • Managing resource allocation, including recruitment and/or selection, to ensure capability required is available and resourcing issues are mitigated, in collaboration with Group Owners.
  • Applying commercial acumen to ensure chapter and resourcing priorities are achieved within allocated budget targets.
  • Collaborating with Chapter Area Lead and other Chapter Leads to determine and implement tools/common practices to be used by Chapter Members

Your skills & experience

Mandatory

  • Deep understanding of AGILE, SCRUM methodologies and other relevant new ways of working skills
  • BMC remedy certification
  • Must be ITIL V3 and above certified.
  • Deep understanding of Software Engineering metrics such as DORA, Velocity, MVP ( should be able to measure and discern )
  • Very Strong Service Management skills
  • Incident Problem Change – Module skills (Deep understanding of the processes and Technology used )
  • Good financial acumen
  • Budgeting and forecast
  • Good analytical skills
  • Project/Program discovery knowledge
  • Performance and Talent Management

Preferred

  • Must understand cloud tech such as SaaS and PaaS models (IBM Cloud, AWS , Azure ) AWS Certified preferred
  • Preferably Service Operations Intermediate certified
  • Should have worked on other ITSM Tools – ex. SNOW, HP Service Manager etc )
  • SoW and contract Management
