Engineer the future
As a member of our team based in London, you will take part in the design and development of Mendeley’s flagship researcher-productivity products. You will collaborate with a passionate Agile team to create innovative solutions for our customers. You will be involved in the software development life cycle from design to coding and unit testing, through to deployment and operation.
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will handle:
Stimulating the technical direction of the Mendeley application
Cultivating discussion and documenting team decisions via Architectural Decision Records (ADRs), including aspects such as Architecture, Security, Privacy and Disaster Recovery
Writing software while following testing, coding and development process best practices to create robust and stable products
Working with cross-functional technical teams to understand complex product requirements and translate them into software designs
Contributing to the technical direction of the Mendeley APIs, Services and Libraries
Completing bug fixes and resolving technical issues to ensure quality and performance
Developing your skills and knowledge through learning modern technologies
Requirements
To be successful in this role you will:
Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication
Work collaboratively with internal and external teams
Be prepared to mentor, monitor and guide more junior developers
Collaborate with Product Owners and Tech Leaders across Elsevier to define priorities and manage expectations
Have excellent expertise in Java and Java-related technologies, able to feedback on ideas, implementation and execution
Mentor software developers on software development, development methodologies and optimization techniques
