The Role: Pricing and Packaging Analyst

The Location: Ahmedabad, India

The Team: This role sits in the S&P Global, Commodity Insights, Pricing and Packaging team. It plays a key commercial role by working closely with business line and finance stakeholders to execute and analyze a harmonized discount tracking and reporting process across the Commodity Insight business – this is a strategic initiative to enable commercial integration of heritage Platts and heritage ENR businesses post merger. Additionally, the selected candidate will help expediting financial and pricing analyses required to group customers into segments for pricing purposes, determine product pricing methodology based on what customers currently pay, and providing concise outputs (reports, algorithms, models, code, etc.) to drive new pricing schemes.

The Impact: The candidate will play a key role in helping to enable commercial integration of business lines post merger and be accountable for executing discount tracking and reporting across the Commodity Insight business. This work will produce analytics for the go-to-market proposition for the new combined business of Commodity Insights. This work will support profitable revenue through extensive understanding of market pricing and help to create robust pricing techniques to enhance client experience and lessen the complexity for S&P. What’s in it for you: This position provides the opportunity to play an important commercial business analytics and intelligence role within S&P Global Pricing and Packaging Team, by developing tools and reports that enable the business to make informed decisions. Working within the Pricing and Packaging Team also gives the opportunity to engage with and gain exposure to all areas the Commodity Insights business, liaising with cross-functional team members and global teams frequently.

Responsibilities:

  • Discount Tracking and Analysis
  • Track and report on Discounts across deals in the Sub-Business lines
  • Manage approval tracking through Salesforce and internal Pricing Tools
  • Analyzes and addresses data quality issues (gaps in data) regarding discounts
  • Build visualization reports and dashboards for commercial and business line leadership to make informed decisions based on analysis conducted
  • Data handling, blending, wrangling of multiple datasets such as discounts, Finance ACV, industry classification and segments, Salesforce data, Marketing to perform quantitative discount analysis to yield business and revenue opportunities.
  • Continuous iterative development of discounting and analytics through feedback from internal stakeholders to provide the most up-to-date view of the discounts
  • Pricing Analysis
  • Creating quantitative models and price simulations by using our transaction data (ACV), discounts and reference data such as industry classifications to help evolve our current Pricing methodology
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define key financial and operational metrics to continuously monitor, track, and report performance of the pricing tools (CSM, CPT).
  • Interacts with members of product development, sales, and customer care support, to provide and resolve any issues that may arise in Pricing (tier 2 support).
  • Problem solving working with our internal teams to help manage our inventory of pricing codes, pricing through the pricing tool.

What We’re Looking For:

  • University Degree (or equivalent) required in Business, Mathematics, Economics, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics or related technical fields. Master’s Degree desired
  • The ability to mine analyse, model, and interpret multiple large data sets
  • Proficiency with data management and business intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI & Spotfire)
  • Required: Salesforce; Office 365 (Teams), SQL,
  • Nice to have: Python, or R, EDM, HTML, Azure, Alteryx
  • Advanced Excel Skill – VBA and Macro
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must be able to work effectively as part of a commercial team and foster team cooperation, often remote
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of financial forecasting techniques or statistical analysis
  • Demonstrated strong experience utilizing data tools (Power BI) to build complex formulas and create reports
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Commodity experience is a benefit but not required
  • A self-starter with initiative, unafraid to seek out all information needed
