This position is responsible to conceptualize, develop and implement Clinical and Medical Affairs strategies and programs on a Country and Regional Level in close coordination with the Regional Medical Director, embecta -Greater Asia with a specific focus (~ 50-%) on India and (~ 50-%) on Asia region. The person will also play a critical role to foster bi-directional scientific interactions with top KOLs, practitioners and medical centers while ensuring the clinical team as well as other functions within the scope of Country and Regional Medical Affairs adhere to the policies and procedures issued by BD as well as local & national governing bodies. This role also supports Asia region. Additionally, there are interactions with peers and leaders of regional / Global and Clinical Marketing, local Country Business Leaders, Clinical Associates, Marketing Managers, HEOR, Market Access team and Field Reps. The Medical Affairs Manager is a member of the embecta country and invited member of the Asia Leadership Teams.

This position serves as primary source for clinical and scientific information for external HCPs for Diabetes Care products, services and innovations, including evidence related to insulin injection and infusion delivery, as well as Digital Health. The MA Manager must develop and maintain ethical, mutually-beneficial peer-to-peer relationships with national/regional top thought leaders and key HCPs, with frequent face-to-face interactions. The Position’s remit includes scouting new trends; conceptualizing innovative approaches; designing and running clinical studies; interpreting, publishing and presenting results; facilitating new treatment recommendations; improving clinical practices; providing education and training (within DC and external); and assisting with questions regarding patient management issues, when appropriate.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sense new clinical and marketing trends and translate these into actionable insights and strategies for the business for India and Asia
  • Establishing strong relationships with key health and medical authorities
  • Engage with existing HCP and professional groups having insights and values of strategic relevance to embecta including society, academia and Centers of excellence.
  • Act as one of the primary medical contact in India and support Asia for medical and scientific questions for both new and existing products
  • Determine India and Asia centers for scientific studies in conjunction with key MA and business leaders.
  • Ensure compatibility and compliance of all claims for India and Asia regional promotion with supporting clinical/scientific data
  • Develop and gain acceptance by embecta regional and global Medical Affairs and embecta Business LT regarding Integrated Medical Plan (KOL engagement, most relevant patient profiles, clinical trial, publication &market development plans) for each of the major pillars of focus in India and Asia.
  • Review and approve India and Asia focused external communications as required
  • Address serious product or patient safety issues by direct intervention with involved HCPs as well as within embecta processes
  • Provide training for India & support Asia Clinical Marketing team, as well as for other embecta personnel and external HCPs, as appropriate. Use webcasts and other digital channels for efficient, global training
  • Assist with legislative, market access and reimbursement efforts across wider fronts, both at national and local levels
  • Organize local and support regional congresses, workshops, advisory boards, etc. with influential HCPs to exchange insights, help map out embecta strategy and advance the field of diabetes, relevant to the business
  • Attend and give talks at national and regional meetings / conferences as required
  • Develop India and support Asia clinical trials strategy in collaboration with embecta Regional Medical Director and India and Asia business leaders
  • Ensure performance of trials according to local regulations, GCP and embecta’s SOPs.
  • Ensure appropriate statistical analysis, writing, reporting, publishing and presenting of trial results, including assisting / collaborating with HCPs, as needed
  • Achieve broad, effective external exposure for study data embecta generates or which is relevant to embecta’s products and strategy
  • Support GCD in managing studies in humans conducted in India & Asia region to ensure coordination of the study timelines, budgets and data analysis as advised by the Regional medical Director.
  • Travel: Approximately 15-20%, (including India/Asia)
  • Support and provide the medical insight for the strategic market access, such as reimbursement registration strategy, for the new and the existing products as appropriate

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • 5 years’ experience in pharmaceutical or medical device industry with at least 2 years in

the diabetes space preferably with clinical experience in managing people with diabetes.

  • PhD/ PharmD or MBBS degree required; suitable MD candidates can be considered.
  • Experience in working/interacting with global and regional commercial teams and demonstrated ability to successfully set medical direction across regions
  • Experience with engaging local KOLs, well-networked with KOLs in the diabetes space, and developing KOL engagement plans across India/ region.
  • Academic applicants will be considered, with requisite clinical experience and prior

interactions with industry (clinical trials, Advisory Boards, presentations, etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Seasoned PhD/ D Pharm/MBBS with the decorum and gravitas needed to earn respect of HCPs, authorities and internal business/ commercial stakeholders
  • Experience of planning, performing, and reporting clinical trials. Good scientific writer with respectable number of peer-reviewed publications preferred
  • Adept at getting done things, already made significant and measurable contributions in diabetes; a doer, not just a talker
  • An accomplished public speaker, organized and compelling in presentation style
  • Business acumen and experience working in a commercial environment.
  • Ability to translate complex clinical topics into simple and compelling marketing tools or experience supervising others who have this skill, ability to ensure compatibility and compliance

of all business claims with supporting clinical/scientific data will be an advantage

  • Leadership skill to lead internal and external stake- holders
  • End to end execution capability for the identified projects
