Position Description: Medicines Development Information and Digital Solutions (MD IDS) serves as a strategic function within Lilly Research Laboratories partnering with the Medicines Development Unit (MDU). The MDU focuses on taking potential marketable products from Research through product registration and approval. MD IDS focuses on the MDU business needs of the future, enabling improvements through information and technology solutions. The teams define and influence information and business strategies, design and develop solutions to achieve the strategic outcomes, and ensure reliable deployment and support of these solutions. Medicines Development IT (MD IT) serves as a strategic function within Lilly Research Laboratories (LRL). The MD IT team defines and influences information and business strategies and designs and develops solutions to enable the realization of the Medicines Development Unit and IT strategies. This position provides a great opportunity to influence product lifecycle management strategies and collaboration between Lilly and external partners using Oracle electronic clinical data capture software. The primary business areas include small molecule drug development, biologics, and devices development. Required Experience (Must have): 8+ years knowledge of the software development life cycle/Agile, spanning the entire lifecycle from project initiation to deployment, support, and retirement Experience in developing applications in Javascript (NodeJS) Experience with Amazon Web Services (s3, API Gateway, CloudFront, ECS, Lambda, ec2) Knowledge of DevOps tools, Openshift, Jenkins, maven/ant/gradle, build and release. Solid understanding of system validation. Exposure and experience working in healthcare domain and understanding of clinical data collection and management process. Demonstrated experience in managing technical deliverables of team and coordination with architects to contribute in architectural decisions. Experience with clinical development and/or healthcare technologies (data collection, screening/enrollment, site monitoring, eSource, EMR, etc.). Prior SDLC experience with supporting applications like: COTS (commercial off-the-shelf), SaaS (Software as a Service, preferably Veeva) and Cloud based implementations (Azure, Oracle Cloud and Amazon Cloud). Additional Skills/Preferences: Demonstrated ability to broadly influence senior business and IT leadership in the organization Prior experience with GCP regulations Experience with the Veeva platform and technologies Familiarity with Software Quality Assurance methods and techniques Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent self-management skills Demonstrated initiative to build relationships, learn new business processes and identify opportunities Experience working with individuals across organization boundaries Leadership abilities and abilities to achieve results through others Demonstrated ability to influence peers Demonstrated broad and deep technology learning agility Demonstrated depth and breadth of knowledge and experience with current IT technologies Experience with ITIL Methodology Experience leading teams, or in formal leadership roles The role of the IT Technical Consultant includes responsibilities for: Technical Leadership – technical leadership and strategic direction on critical activities to achieve business objectives. Define the current and future state of the technology and all applicable integrations. This includes collaboration with the Medicines Development IT technical architects and other technical highly professionals for planning proper environment setup and management, configuration and development aligned with IDS strategies. In addition, provide technical leadership for analyzing future project ideas, conduct Proof of Concepts, assist with generating business cases and leading technical resources to achieve proper outcomes. Business Relationship Management – effectively demonstrate learning agility to use and develop business process knowledge, to define how the use of new technologies will be designed/configured to enable these critical business outcomes. Use technical and business process skills and experience to influence strategic direction and future products, or critical upgrades. Vendor Management – responsible for working with vendors for all related knowledge necessary to maintain operational control and produce successful outcome of software and hardware upgrades related to the systems that are supported. This includes working with vendors to maintain system diagrams, data flow diagrams, system roadmaps, underlying technologies, maintaining product versions, maintaining defect information, maintaining required enhancement information, identifying lifecycle management requirements, attend vendor discussions, etc. . Development and Implementation Project Leadership – o Requirements – Collaborate with Business and IT Consultants to confirm critical businessIT requirements and manage expectations with both parties, as well as contribute to the impact analysis to identify risks and find ways to mitigate them o Design – Lead a technical team in the design analysis, to translate and implement technical design (configuration/development and data integration) from business requirements, as well as manage expectations and development activities with software vendors for project deliverables. This may involve various levels of technical complexity, while also designing to ensure a positive user experience. o Testing – Collaborate with the design team, developers, testers, and business subject matter experts, to brainstorm and right- testing (plans, content, and execution) for comprehensive system and user acceptance testing. o Training – Contribute to the development of training materials, knowledge transfer and assist with service readiness for the solutions, to make sure it is thorough, is easily consumed and maintainable. o Deployment – Lead the planning and execution of the deployment of the projects, which includes, implementation and stabilization activities, as well as providing input for training and business adoption. Key Objectives and Deliverables Technology Integration and Implementation Ensure proper business and technical requirements have been appropriately defined for each project and are consistent with local and global requirements and best practices. Gain and leverage understanding and knowledge of how Medicines Development IT strategies, platforms, and technologies enable business process execution. Anticipate, understand, and communicate the implications of technical decisions on the business, applications, and project timelines and influence decisions accordingly. Ability to define, lead, and execute technical work may support programming, software integration, and data integration activities, which will include SaaS, COTS, cloud, and custom-built solutions Analyze and solve complex technical problems, including advanced data analysis and multiple technologies. Grow utilization and expertise level in tools and processes supporting requirements management, code management, change management, and quality practices governing key work. Leverage deep system testing knowledge to ensure system testing methods are appropriate, coordinated, and comprehensive to decrease probability of unexpected system issues or inability to optimize the systems’ use to maximize business benefit. Leverage relationships outside of Medicines Development IT to enable increased productivity and seek opportunities to reuse internal processes and services to streamline support and implementation of key systems. Business Consultation Build effective relationships with business areas using advanced business and systems analysis skills to determine key business needs, utilize external knowledge to proactively evaluate changes in the environment, and influence technology solutions specifically related to LRL business processes. Leads and influences the development and documentation of an overall IT services strategy and architecture for the business area. Evaluate proposed project ideas / software changes via impact analysis and estimated business value to influence decision making. Document business requirements and effectively communicate them to software vendors, developers, and testers. Obtain and leverage knowledge of business processes and technology to ensure solutions meet needs and to influence future application and business direction. Use increased business knowledge to appropriately challenge status quo and drive business and IT collaboration. Drive team to understand and evaluate the existing and potential items in the portfolio of work to align with business priorities and influence the execution of MD IT projects in collaboration with vendors, business partners, team, and management. Use standardized processes for requirements definition, analysis, design, construct, and test activities.
