Job description: JOB SUMMARY:This position is primarily responsible for Responsible for coding procedural and diagnosis data from physician and hospital medical records to ensure proper ICD10, CPT and HCPCS coding and complianceESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : – Responsible for coding procedural and diagnosis data from physician and hospital medical records to ensure proper ICD10, CPT and HCPCS coding and compliance. – Primary duties may include but are not limited to analyzing medical records to determine appropriateness of medical coding to support submission and correct coding guidelines as outlined by the American Medical Association (AMA) and World Health Organization. (WHO). – Determining the appropriate reimbursement policy, medical policy, and/or coding policy to substantiate a determination. – Maintains current knowledge of requirements and guidance required in the performance of audit duties.QUALIFICATIONS : Requires High School Diploma; 2-3 years of experience as a coder of medical records in the physician office, hospital, or insurance/coding office setting. BS in health science, health management or related field preferred.- Medical Coder certification form accredited source (e.g., American Health information management Association (AHIMA), American Academy of Professional Coders; CPC or CCS-P or CPC-H or CPC-P) required. Additionally, experience with ICD-10, HCPCS and CPT coding and its documentation; demonstrated ability to analyze medical records to support the position of anomaly identified within claims data; Advanced understanding of medical terminology, body systems/anatomy, physiology, and concepts of disease.- Ability to interpret reimbursement policies and procedures. Ability to abstract coding detail from provider documentation Must be willing to work rotational shifts including US shifts (days and weekends)- Proficiency in MS office tools; Excellent in written and oral communication skills (ref:biojoby.com)
