The Industrial / Electrical Segment within the Industrial Solutions Business Unit of TE Connectivity has a full-time opportunity for the position of a Lab Manager / Product Engineer. This will be supporting the Identification product line portfolio
Job Description
ROLE OBJECTIVE
The Lab Manager / Product Engineer will be primarily responsible for:
- All types of testing of TE Identification products.
- New Product Development testing.
- Technical expertise to support Field Support, Product Specialists and Customers when needed.
- Management of Lab functions, involving training, scheduling, service/maintenance planning, ensuring quality in testing, report writing, EHS and similar
- Management of Technician staff
- Sustain Engineering support for Cable Identification consumable products
The desired candidate will possess and apply knowledge of Product Engineering principles, practices and procedures. The role will involve working in multi-functional global teams in matrix organization with regular and frequent communication with global colleagues.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Testing and development of products to meet performance specification and fitness for purpose. Encompassing printing and material requirements.
- Represent Engineering on multi-functional project teams consisting of Sales, Product Management, Project Management, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain and Outside Suppliers.
- When necessary, work on Product Optimization and Cost Improvement to reduce cost and improve product competitiveness.
- Create and manage all supporting technical documentation; including drawings, specifications, inspection plans, test reports etc
- Create requirement/ design specification and test plan documents
- Coordinate with test laboratories on product validation and qualification testing.
- Facilitate Agency Approval activities with Product Approvals personnel.
- Evaluate and implement material changes.
- Use of TE’s Engineering Change control procedures and other internal Engineering systems.
- Support Configuration Management requirements
EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- University Engineering degree or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in Testing Lab Management, Materials Science, Product Engineering; at least 6 years expected.
- Knowledgeable on polymer materials.
- Good knowledge of manufacturing processes; molding, extrusion.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strong design/development and analytical skills.
- Able to work with multicultural engineering teams.
- Ideal candidate is proactive, resilient and self-confident.
- Fluent in English language and documentation skills.
- Flexibility in working day and travelling.
- Knowledge of basic Quality standards and processes, understanding of UL and other Regulatory Standards preferable.
- Experienced in using Microsoft Office.
- Experienced in printing labels and polymeric materials highly advantageous.
