Role purpose

The candidate will be responsible for configuring the transmission circuit’s designed hardware path over COLT-owned equipment and network by looking at the circuit type and its bandwidth as well as by using his own knowledge and experience. Candidate will be required to analyse the requirements and verify its routes and the design. Once verified, he will be configuring circuits remotely by accessing network elements via Colt’s network management systems over Colt’s SDH / DWDM / OTN / MSP / M MSP / ATM / DSLAM, IQNET Packet & Optical Networks. Once configured, the circuit needs to be tested (via pre-test procedures) to ensure an “alarm free” state. Once circuit is ready to deliver, he will be required to co-ordinate with field engineers for E2E testing of the services, during this task he will be required to perform continuity test, loop test, switching test, insertion of network elements, removal of network elements from the management server.
Upon completion, the Order Handling System, XTRAC, Circuit Database and Network Management Systems and all other relevant databases are to be updated.
Additionally, he will be responsible to lead delivery projects, customer circuit migration projects, assist project teams in successfully carrying out UAT/ ORT tests etc. He is expected to gain technical expertise on current platforms and processes so that he works as Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the team. The person will be responsible to lead escalations and must demonstrate Colt values at all stages.
Key accountabilities
Section 1 – Core Tasks
- Configuration & Testing of circuits over Colt’s Carrier Ethernet/ DWDM / OTN / MSP / M MSP / Networks & IQNET Packet & Opical platforms against customer contracts within target-timelines.
- Co-ordinate with field engineers for Installation & E2E testing of the services, during this tasks he will be required to perform continuity test, loop test, switching test, insertion of network elements, removal of network elements from the management server.
- Ensure KPI conformance > 98%.
- Maintain a high quality of output and ensure completion of tasks with a target of zero errors.
- Real time closure of Order Handling System tools & XTRAC (workflow tools) tasks.
- Real time updating of Network Management Systems.
- Interfacing with peer groups within Operations and Engineering teams.
Section 2 – Additional Responsibilities
- Transitioning of tasks from EU,USA & Asia to India as per defined “Business brief”.
- Managing escalations / issues on daily basis.
- Perform quality check and drive initiatives to improve quality of service on Config and Activation task.
- Handling complex solution related deliveries like EPN/Bespoke Orders etc.
- Leading & executing delivery projects and migration projects.
- Leading weekly calls with stakeholders in IN, EU, USA & Asia.
- To become SME both technically & process-wise.
- Helping team members with their daily jobs.
- Independently Drive CSI initiative and project across function and Global SD.
- Handling complex customer projects independently and ensure smooth delivery through delivery cycle.
- Leading weekly calls with stakeholders in IN & EU.
- Drive Synergies with in cross functional team.
- Being SME target to work on removing top 4 error identified during quality checks.

Role specific requirements
Skills & Experience
- The ideal candidate with 10-14 years of relevant industry experience in Planning (Access and Core Network) ..Good understanding/Knowledge on installations & commissioning / testing / NOC environment (on Optical / Packet / PDH / SDH, DWDM and EoSDH / IP), and have practical experience of Bandwidth provisioning and testing. Knowledge on MSP & NGN technologies will be preferred.
- Good knowledge on various testers (like SUNRISE, ACTERNA, ANT-5, ANT-20 etc.) used for testing of transmission links.
- Excellent knowledge of Transmission, Ethernet / DWDM / OTN / MSP / M MSP / DSLAM Networks / NG Packet Network Technologies.
- Excellent understanding of Metro-Ethernet technologies and MPLS based L2 VPN services (Ethernet P2P or P2MP)
- Good knowledge of various interface used to deliver Data, Voice and IP based circuits on transmission network.
Education & Qualifications
- B.E / B Tech specialized in “Electronics & Communication” Engineering is preferred
