Job Summary:
The role requires leading company Solar, Hybrid and Green Hydrogen Engineering & Design Team from technical side for bidding new projects, execution of projects and managing the O&M. It requires managing and leading the existing team and planning ahead to strengthen the organizational setup as the renewable business grows further. Job demands successfully conceptualizing, bidding and winning new projects; executing the projects within time, cost and quality parameters; and help asset management team operate and maintain the assets to exceed targeted returns.
Job Purpose – Responsible and accountable for project design and implementation with respect to safety, quality, profitability and on time completion of projects. Interface with the clients and vendors to derive customer appreciation.
Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for Design engineering/ project engineering of distributed and utility scale solar, hybrid and green hydrogen projects.
2. Oversee all operations of the Design & Engineering department (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Plant SCADA).
3. Lead the Engineering team from cradle to grave, starting with concept, bids & proposal, to execution stage detail engineering for Solar, Hybrid, and Green Hydrogen projects.
4. Conceptualize, Design, Engineering of Solar Power Plant (Ground Mounted, Rooftop and Floating) and its corresponding distribution system for on grid solutions.
5. Lead the design team in preparing design engineering as per IEC / IS Standards, engineering layouts, SLD, BOQ and RFQ.
6. Responsible for design and implementation within budgets set by BD and projects team.
7. Assist the SCM team in terms of any technical guidance required
8. Assist the management in terms of getting new projects with proper metrics and guidelines.
9. Should involve in client management, pre sales, tendering/bidding, procurement, vendor selection etc. to the extent requested by business and projects teams.
10. Developing projects on new concepts/applications like floating solar/hybrid power plants, green hydrogen etc.
11. Responsible for complete design solutions such as preparation of SLDs, Electrical Layouts, Structural layouts, to mention a few for instance.
12. Supporting the estimation effort by business teams at the time of tendering, verifying the engineering inputs and providing value engineering to make winning bids etc.
13. Identify & drive scope of optimization in designs and suggest technical solutions.
14. Studying new technologies within the project ambit to optimize cost and increase output.
15. Review of Permutation and Combination and multiple iterations of system design with PV system analysis tools for proposed solar plant w.r.t. its location irradiance for optimal land use (based on survey and Contour), evaluation of different system components & tilts (Fixed/Seasonal Tilt/Single Axis Tracker) angle with type of different modules so as to arrive at LCOE.
16. Assigns engineering resources to various projects ensuring alignment of knowledge and skills to project requirements.
17. Participate in Proposal, Projects Kick-Off and Project Review Meetings.
18. Coordinating with the engineering counterparts at client end, consultants, vendors and cross-functional teams for successful execution of projects.
19. Interdisciplinary co-ordination within engineering team (electrical, civil, mechanical)
20. Offering support to the QA team during inspection of equipments/projects.
21. Offering support to site commissioning team during erection and commissioning.
22. Representing the business unit as the technical face during customer interaction and ensuring technical queries raise by customer are resolved in effective manner.
23. Supervising project progress from design perspective, including planning, costs and deliverables and determining action plans for critical technical issues or perceived project delays due to engineering issues.
24. Develop departmental resource plans to support all operating regions within the regions/ segments and work with Human Resources to identify viable candidates to fill open positions.
25. Set goals and priorities for improving the skills and overall process and Engineering capabilities of the business unit.
26. Offering guidance to engineers, drafters to undertake engineering activities.
27. Effectively hire, train, develop, and appraise engineering staff, besides creating a technical leadership pipeline for the firm. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with Company policy. Consult with Human Resources as appropriate.
PRE-BID
1. Bid doc, bid analysis and preparation of technical queries/comments/assumptions and our proposal for customer submission.
2. Participation in technical discussion with customer for closure of technical bid.
3. Preparation of complete BOQ based on technical specification and technical closure with customer.
4. Technical evaluation and analysis of vendor technical offer, technical discussion with vendors for technical closure
5. Business Unit/Division and Global risk review meeting.
POST-BID
1. Prepare Design Basis Report for complete system under EBOP scope.
2. Prepare plant overall Key SLD and Main One Line Diagram complete with metering and protection.
3. Development of logic diagram and control schemes for MV, LV, Switchyard.
4. Prepare transformer yard layout.
5. Prepare equipment layout and switchgear room layout.
6. Complete Design & Engineering of Switchyard.
7. Vendor drg. Review (Power, Auxiliary Power and service transformers, MV Switchgear, LV Switchgear, IPBD, SPBD, NSPBD, DC system, UPS system, switchyard equipment, C&R panel, switchyard equipments etc.), before customer submission and manufacturing clearance to vendor.
DESIRED PROFILE:
1. BE /B.Tech – Electrical with 15+ yrs of experience in Design and Engineering with multiple utility and distributed MW scale project engineering expertise. In addition, experience with MW scale hybrids and green hydrogen projects, if any, would be preferred.
2. Willing to travel to multiple project sites.
3. Experience and knowledge of new projects bidding from technical side.
4. Should have good experience in managing the design and engineering team for large MW scale solar, hybrid and green hydrogen projects.
5. Should have prior experience in client management, pre sales, tendering/bidding, procurement, vender selection etc.
6. Prior experience in Proposal, Projects Kick-Off and Project Review Meetings.
7. Leadership skills including team building, written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, project management skills, analytical skills, time & cost management.
8. Networking skills to remain up to date with the latest technology developments in Solar, hybrid and green hydrogen fields and their application in optimizing business returns.
