Support of the Role: This role will support the writing, project management, and delivery of impactful, high-quality scientific publications in compliance with GSK policies as well as with all related good publication practices and guidelines. The team’s mission is to ensure high quality and timely delivery of scientific publications according to set plans. Job Purpose: This role is responsible for working on specific publication deliverables and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality publications, in compliance with GSK policies as well as with all related good publication practices and guidelines through the scrupulous respect of an established, auditable process, and transparency of process to involved stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: 1. In partnership with the relevant publication planning teams, assure successful management of GSK’s publication delivery. 2. Provide end-to-end technical writing and project management support to specific publication deliverables (manuscripts, abstracts, posters, presentations, publication enhancements, etc.) with the authors and cross-functional teams of experts within TAs Ensuring delivery of impactful, high-quality publications in a timely manner Ensuring high scientific integrity of data interpretation Following a publication from submission through publication (including active input in consolidation of content pre and post submission) Identifying appropriate resources for generation of publications, according to priorities and Data Dissemination Plan or providing technical writing support Preparation of briefing packages, review and editing of publication drafts to ensure quality standards Ensure update in a timely manner of all project management tools put in place by GSK (Datavision, tracking sheets, etc.) 3. Ensure the use of good publications practices and principles among authors and internal stakeholders to guarantee that all publications are being authored, written, and reviewed according to good publication practice standards (GPP/ICMJE guidelines) and are consistent with all relevant company policies. 4. Provide mentoring and training to new/junior publications writers as needed Knowledge/Education Required : Minimum Level of Education Required – Master’s Degree Preferred Level of Education – PhD, MD Area of Specialization – Life sciences or Medical background or equivalent with expertise in a particular area of medicine or clinical science Why is it required – Given the scope of responsibility associated with the position, the interactions with senior stakeholders of multiple disciplines, a good scientific background associated with previous experience in governance as well as strong communication skills is preferred. Previous Experience Required : Minimum Level of Job-Related Experience Required – At least 6-8 years of experience in scientific writing, publications writing (abstracts, posters, presentations, manuscripts, enhanced publication content, etc.) and processes Experience in Project Management Experience in Pharmaceutical company environment and specifically in matrix organization Why is this level of experience required- Responsibilities of this role include development of scientific publications and hence a strong experience in Publications domain is essential. Knowledge & Application : o Understanding of good publication practices and guidance (GPP, ICMJE), Sunshine Act, Pharma Code of Conduct, and other guidance related to post-marketing practices and scientific data communication o Good understanding of all aspects of scientific publication strategy, planning and execution during all phases of drug development and commercialization process (investigational, registrational, pre- and post-launch and marketed) o Understanding of clinical trial design and execution, statistical methods and clinical trial data reporting requirements o Working knowledge of / familiarity with publication management tools & systems (Datavision) o Experience working in highly matrix environment across a broad range of functional areas o Advanced knowledge of International Committee for Harmonization (ICH) / Good Clinical Practice (GCP) regulations o Strong management and leadership skills Skills o Excellent verbal and written English communication skills o Proficiency in MS Office applications o Excellent team player and project manager, able to lead or support projects and colleagues across the organisation with technology and innovation expertise. o Proven research skills, with demonstrable capability in conducting various types of research, interpreting data and research findings, and producing insightful analyses. o Ability to work with global teams in different geographies with a diverse set of perspectives o Able to set and manage priorities in a global environment Experience working in a matrix environment. Interactions outside of GSK o With service providers (outsourced activities) and Authors of publications Multi-Cultural Requirements: The role will be truly global working with departments across RDCs, and cross-departments. Ability to work across cultures and time zones and build effective virtual teams is essential. Additionally, the corporate cultures of external contractors and providers must also be managed. GSK Policies are applicable worldwide and the role with have to interact with multiple culture and multiple mindset population to ensure common understanding and implementation of the standards. Impact: Major impact within the Publication group as it will have an impact on GSK’s external communication strategy. Key responsibility in compliance and inspection readiness.
