A Day in the Life
One of the key deliverables of MIDC is an electromechanical product that will be used in a clinical setting. We are looking for a senior mechanical engineer who will work on all mechanical engineering related technical activities, incOluding engineering design/testing, quality/reliability assurance and manufacturability. Given the entrepreneurial nature of MIDC, this person will have to perform hands-on work in the mechanical/systems lab.
- Work on mechanical design for developing a new electromechanical system that includes fluid circuitry and will be used in a clinical setting.
- Experience in Product Design involving Plastic and Sheet metal parts
- Good knowledge in GD&T, Tolerance Stack-up Analysis
- Strong understanding in concepts to be developed considering DFM, DFA, DFR, etc.
- Good knowledge in creating 2D drawings for plastics and sheet metal components
- Create design verification test plans and reports to assure that the design meets requirements.
- Work with quality/reliability engineering to identify and minimize sources of technical and practical risk, and ensure the product meets medical device-related safety standards.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- B.E. or B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed university.
- 8-12+ years of total work experience as a mechanical engineer in the design and development of multidisciplinary technical products (electromechanical or biomedical)
- Strong experience in design tranfer, manufcaturing process design
- Supplier interaction and innvolved in atleast one product contract manufacturing discussion and vendor development.
- Experience with rapid prototyping of industrial design concepts via mock-ups and 3D printing
- Demonstrated ability to create a complete electromechanical assembly including mechanical packaging and enclosure design
- Labelling design and user manual drafting
- Knowledge of PTC CREO (formerly ProE) for mechanical design / modeling, GD&T, Stackup analysis
- Knowledge in Product Data and Lifecycle Management Tool – PTC PDMLink (formerly known as Windchill)
- Expertise with Microsoft Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Desired / Preffered Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in the healthcare domain, with knowledge of medical device-related standards such as ISO 13485, US FDA’s 21 CFR 820, IEC 60601, IEC 60068 and ISO 10993
- Experience with electromechanical design and optimization of fluid circuits including fluid mechanics, pumps, valves, heaters, sensors, fluidic connectors and tubing, together with a working knowledge of the supply base for fluidic components.
- Basic understanding of electronics concepts (microcontrollers, power supplies, programmable logic)
- Basic understanding of biomedical concepts (human anatomy, disease, diagnostics, therapies)
