Job description: As an Executive/Assistant Manager (L3) in our Gurugram office, you will work in the Data and Models team to assist the development of a comprehensive Global Surveillance Program across the firm. You will apply your broad skillset across data and analytics to understand business problems, create insights and envisage practical solutions within Risk Surveillance across several initiatives. This includes interacting with colleagues in the global team and the Risk Surveillance function to identify patterns and behaviours indicating market abuse and misconduct; coupling communications, trades and other data points with data science tools and techniques to deliver productive lines of investigation. You will also provide thought leadership on key developments in the data science industry and help to evangelise the capabilities in this area through regular stakeholder engagement and training.

This is an exciting opportunity to use your knowledge of machine learning and behavioural analytics, along with an investigative mindset, to incorporate the latest developments in surveillance regulation, technology and industry best practice into our various surveillance projects and initiatives. Attention to detail, proficiency in classification/regression techniques and data environments, strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and quality, are essential to be successful in this role.

This role requires a bachelor’s degree, and relevant experience in statistics, engineering, mathematics, computer science or another relevant quantitative discipline. You’ll bring with you: 4+ years of experience with machine learning and statistics, as well as proficiency working with big data and appropriate software (Cloudera, Spark, Jupyter Notebooks and similar), Python and SQL. Experience with NLP packages (Natural Language Processing) and proficiency in using Alteryx and Power BI is highly regarded. Prior experience with trading in financial markets and investment funds, their operation and the potential for mishandling or manipulation would be preferred.
